Tokens, passes and tickets can be used on both forms of public transit and can be purchased at the bus and ferry terminals in Hamilton, the Visitor Information Centre in Hamilton, post offices and in some hotels and guest houses.
Cash is accepted on buses (not on ferries) but only with exact change and we mean change. Bills are not accepted. Cash is also the most expensive form of payment with per ride price lower with tokens, passes and ticket books. See a current bus rate sheet below.
Bus Fares
Tokens and ticket booklets are based on a 2-tier zone system. The first tier fare covers rides of 1-3 zones and the second tier fare covers rides of 4 -14 zones. You can use the map provided here to quickly calculate the route and fare of any given ride. Tokens are sold in any quantity while tickets are available in booklets of 15.

Bus Passes
Passes are good for unlimited usage on both buses and ferries during the time specified which begins with the first day of usage. If you think your usage of the transit system will be frequent, passes are a convenient and economical option.

Sightseeing Bus Charters
The Department of Public Transportation (DPT) also operates a sightseeing service for visitors. Groups of 20 or more may charter buses by contacting the Charter Supervisor at 441-292-6704.
