Description

Apollo was built in Maine in 1873, and is an American two masted wood schooner. According to her License of Vessel, she was 36 feet long, had a 14 foot beam, displaced 12 gross tons and was owned by William Elmello, of Gloucester, Massachusetts. The schooner was bound from Turks Island to Nova Scotia under the command of Captain Jones, with a cargo of salt when she was wrecked on Bermuda's treacherous reefs in February of 1890.

Today, the wreck known as Apollo lies scattered along Bermuda's south shore breakers in 20 feet of water.
