Founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver in 1968, the Special Olympics brought about a global movement with her revolutionary vision and programs. This movement encourages society to accept everyone regardless of ability.
A nonprofit organization, our coaches and volunteers are committed to making the world a better and healthier place. Our athletes are children and adults with intellectual disabilities across the world. We provide training and opportunities to develop physical fitness and help to tackle the inactivity, intolerance, isolation and injustice that people with intellectual disabilities face. The number of people involved with the Special Olympics are increasing and we aim to reach out to 200 million people across the globe.
We’re raising awareness and empowering people with intellectual and physical disabilities, and are active currently in Bermuda and worldwide. Contact us to learn more or to donate and support our work.
