- Passenger air service was introduced between Bermuda and New York in 1938
- Bermuda College was established in 1972
- Woman’s suffrage was granted with property qualification in 1944
- Pamela Gordon was appointed Bermuda’s first female Premier in 1997
- Bermuda’s first broadcasting station was established in 1946
- In 1998 the Progressive Labour Party won its first general election marking the only change in Government since the establishment of party politics thirty years prior
