The 2016 World Rugby Classic is set for November 5 – 12 and will feature teams from Argentina, British Isles, Canada, France, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States. The 10-match schedule is interwoven with social events for players and fans all of which make the Classic a winning combo of sport and entertainment.
Absolutely unique in the world of sport, the World Rugby Classic features former top players once again representing their countries in international competition. It began as the Easter Rugby Classic in 1972. The idea was to provide a venue for former international team players who still had a lot of game in them to reunite and once again represent their country in the sport many of them helped make famous. The idea took off. The event grew in scope and popularity and in 1988 was befittingly renamed the World Rugby Classic.
All matches are played at the National Sports Centre, the venue for the Classic since 2000. One day (night) passes are $25 and a weekly pass is $100. Tickets are sold at the gate and online through the Classic website. Food and beverage stations, including a robust bar, are available on the grounds. There are also VIP pass opportunities including both a Members Tent and the Classic Club. In addition, the Corporate Hospitality Village, that runs the length of the western touchline, provides corporate Bermuda an excellent opportunity to entertain in style amid the spirited environment that is the World Rugby Classic.
